MWEB ADSL Subscribers mail-sending issues

  • June 30, 2011 by
Dear Client

We have recently become aware that MWEB Customers may experience difficulty when sending email if they are using MWEB as their ISP (Internet Service Provider).

This is due to a security-related change that MWEB implemented on their network to redirect outgoing email traffic on port 25 to fight outbound spam and virus-generated email traffic.

Customers wanting to bypass this redirection are advised by MWEB to change SMTP settings to; smtp.mweb.co.za (without Authenticating it).

An alternative option in Microsoft Outlook is to tick the box that says (Log on to incoming mail server before sending) under Outgoing SMTP settings.
* This however is not the case with MS Outlook Express, as it does not have this feature.

Warmest Regards,
The eDisc Web Team
